Washing Machine Spin Cycle

I own a 12-year old Whirlpool 2-Speed Automatic Washer (Model # LA5668XT).

After the rinse & spin cycle are complete, we have to repeat the spin cycle a 2nd time to get the proper amount of water out of the clothes/tub.

Can you please tell me how to repair this?

Thank you!

Your washer should be direct driven ie: no belt. (the motor and transmission are connected through a coupling) It could be the clutch that engages the tub during the spin cycle. If the clutch is slipping you will not get the full speed out of the tub during the spin cycle. Do you hear any strange sounds coming from the washer during the spin cycle?
