GE Profile #JE1660GB002 is not heating and has a loud buzz. The magnetron tube was replaced 6 months after purchasing in '03 due to same symptoms, but now GE will charge for service call and labor. The magnetron tube is as much as the microwave!
Is it possible there is something else wrong or is this just a lemon? Is there a site where I can troubleshoot?

Magnetrons hardly ever go.They are warranteed for like 10 yrs. If they blew so often they would not be warranteed for so long. Unless you and your microwave are in an abusive relationship GE needs to find out why it is blowing instead of replacing it.Bad Diodes, Capacitors, and transformers can give those symptoms. It is much easier,and more lucrative for the tech to diagnose a bad Magnetron than it is for him to find out why it went bad.

This site will help you eliminate most of the stuff that can go wrong. If it boils down to the magnetron,not another part causing the magnetron to blow, they should replace it for free imo. They don't really listen to joneq though.
