Kenmore washer removal of agitator bolt

Hi all,
From what I've read over the last few days I need to check my agitator dogs on my Kenmore washer, Series 70, Model #11082372810. My washer is not agitating anything but me. When I remove the cap from the top of the agitator there is a bolt, not the inset bolt but the type where you can get a socket on the head. The bolt will turn, in either direction, but will not back out. Anybody have any idea on how I can get this bolt out so I can check everything underneath it? Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like the threads are stripped. Try lifting up on the bottom of the agitator while turning bolt. It is a regular thread bolt so should turn counter-clockwise to remove. Dave

Thanks Dave. I have tried that to no avail. I'm thinking of drilling the bolt out. I can see the dogs with the cap off and they look ok. I wonder if that bolt not being tight is why my washer is not agitating?
