Amana Refrigerator annoying sound

I have an Amana refrigerator with the slide out freezer drawer on the bottom. the model is ABD2533D. It is just over a year old. last week end it started making a noise that sounds like an electrical transformer. Kind of like a buzzing sound. It makes this noise for about 10-15 seconds then shuts off. It makes this noise about every 5-10 minutes for about an hour. I never noticed this sound befor last weekend. It's kind of loud and annoying. I pulled the fridge out from teh wall to see if I could tell where the sound was coming from. It seems like it is directly behind the fan that is in the center/bottom/back, or behind where the water valve is. By the way, is this fan suppose to run all the time? it seems like it does.

Any idea what the noise might be???
I called the store where we bought the fridge at and the guy told me that as long as the fridge was staying cool and the freezer was keeping things frozen that I shouldn't worry about it. I wasn't real happy with that answer, but knew I couldn't get a technical answer out of that guy.

Question ammana?

Hi,
I can't help, don't want to get your hopes up.
I would love to know how old your fridge is? I'm looking at an Ammana, bottom fridge drawer, trying to research possible problems. Have you been happy up until now?

The fridge is one year old. A repairman came out to look at it yesterday. Told us the compressor needed to be replaced. Luckily the compressor has a 5 yr warranty.

I've read some horror stories in the meantime about amana/maytag products and accused the spouse of picking out a lemon.

According to the repairman, amana is a vey dependable product, but they have been having problems with compressors going out. He said we shouldn't have any problems with the new compressor.

I hope we don't have any future problems. in teh meantime, if the compressor acts up, we just shut it off for a while and let the compressor cool off. It work just fine unitl it gets "overheated" again. we also have a 15 year old back in the garage that we had to call upon when the fridge and freezer both quit working over the weekend.

The only other issue I have with the fridge is getting ice out from the ice box. I'm a little on the tall side and i have to reach down and inback to get the ice out.

Hope this answers your question.
