Angry Smoking KitchenAid Dishwasher

My dishwasher started smoking terribly the other night. Smelled like burning plastic. OK on the inside, just steam. No melted cups or anything.

I'm guessing replace dishwasher. Anyone think it might be okay to fix it instead?

Of course this happened because we just replaced our water heater. It never rains but it pours.

Thanks,

Frank

The first thing to check would be the heater element.
Closely inspect it and see if any kind of debris stuck to it.
If that all checks ok then you could be looking at a few different
things. Could be somthing as simple as a burnt wire or wire connection.
Or a burnt electrical component maybe the motor itself.
good luck.
