Whirlpool washer lid switch

Anyone know how to replace the lid switch on a top load Whirlpool washer? On my Kenmore washer I was able to simply pop the top of the washer and swing it up to replace the switch. On this one it looks like the entire back panel must be removed before the top panel will lift.

Whirlpool washer

You're close. The whole shell comes off the washer. Remove the screw on each side of the control panel in the front corners. Lift the panel up & let it hang over back of washer. Remove the 2 gold clips on top shell & un-plug lid switch. Tilt the shell towards you & lift to remove. You can now get at the lid switch to replace. Dave
