Need some assistance here

I have recently discovered that the refridgerator in the house that we are in has an Automatic Icemaker. Well it was never making ice all this time since we lived where we are at which was back in 2004 that we've moved here. So last night, I pulled out the refridgerator and had noticed that their was a house connected to the refridgerator and the other end connected to some soft of faucet in the wall. It was never turned on. So I turned it on last night, then turned the ice maker on and it started making ice. The ice though is coming out like a Brownish/Grayish color. Will this ever get better?

 

It should clear up in a day or so. That's just the dirty water from it sitting in that dead ended pipe for several years.

 

Well it did clear up after a day or so, but one other thing I want to know is do you turn off your ice maker when the ice bin gets full?
