There are several things that could cause a microwave to not heat. I have noticed on GE Microwaves the magnetron usually is the first to go. Depending on how old the microwave is, it may not be worth putting any money into. If it is less than 5 years old, GE carries a 5 year warranty on the part only (no labor). The original equipment magnetron from GE retails for around $160. You can get an aftermarket for under $100.
