How long do washers and dryers last?

Hi. I have a washer and dryer in the garage that have hardly been used. If I started doing one full load a day with them, how long before they'd start having problems from wear and tear? Thanks in advance.

I can't see any reason a washer & dryer can't go 10 years minimum. Most people don't do a load a day, of course.

We have a Kenmore washer & dryer and I can't even remember how old they are - 15+ years I think. The washer I've never done anything to other than clean the water inlet screens. The dryer I replaced some of the internal rollers a couple of years ago to make it run better.

Sadly, I believe older machines last longer than the ones made recently. Your question is obviously difficult to answer with any certainty, but at only one load per day, you should get many years use.

Most newer appliances become disposable items when the repair cost is over
what the unit is worth on the open market. About $150 for washer and $120 for a dryer assuming 3-4 years old and new price around $300-$370 each.
Also must add in disposal cost and delivery cost.

Shortly after my first son was born I bought a kenmore washer - it lasted for 15 yrs. The only repair ever done on it was when a lightning strike took out the controls. I currently have an amana W&D that I bought about 10 yrs ago. They still works great although it isn't worked as hard as the kenmore was
