wet clothes

The dryer tub in my kenmore series 70 will not spin. The belt is fine. The start button buzzes and that is all that happens. Can anyone help?

Hello oznerid
Open the door and try to move the drum with your hands. How it moves? Also, to give you more specific instructions I need the complete model number of your dryer. You can find it on the door frame. To add more questions on the same issue just use the "reply" button.

Bad centrifugal switch with the motor.

Bad motor.

Bad bearings/rollers, putting a bind on motor.

Real sticky idler pulley that is the tensioner for the belt.

Dryers are not that bad when you get used to them. They are all quite a bit alike and checking those things I listed are easy. Actually...if you disconnect the belt, and then the motor then runs, you can almost bet it is one of the bearing systems I mentioned that are slowing the drum down so much that the motor does not have the horsepower to spin it, so it buzzes.
