GE Washer Belt Replacement

I believe the belt on our GE WWA6600S washer is on its way to being toast. After noticing a burned rubber smell, I discovered that the load size switch was on small with a large load (I can see how this could make the belt slip and perhaps burn).

I have found only one place that provided any sort of real info on replacing the belt, and it said, remove a bracket, slip the old belt off, put the new on, adjust the tension by moving the motor mount on its oval holes. Is it really that easy? I recall in the old days, Dad swearing up a storm to change washer belts.

Of course, if it is not the belt, based on the age of the unit, we will probably get a new one.

Thanks,

Dave

Yep, that sounds like how I changed the belt on my GE washer years ago.
