Bad Thermostat on Fridge?

I have a mini fridge - an Avanti.

It freezes everything in it. There is a temperature control, but it seems to be that it is either off - or freezes my food, even on the lowest settting.

I called them and I can order a thermostat. But I want to make sure that that is the problem before getting involved with buying the thermostat, pulling the fridge out, installing, etc.

Can anyone out there be pretty sure that my problem is the thermostat, or have any way to test it?

New control may not resolve your problem. There are other issues that may cause food in refrigerator to freeze food, i.e., compressor problem or low freon, or faulty sensor or wiring that will continue to cause the problem after control has been replaced. Consider age of unit, cost of new control, and cost of replacement of compact refrigerator.
