Moving a refrigerator

Moving a refrigerator
Logically speaking...
If I need to move a fridge through a 30" wide doorway and the fridge (sideways) is 30" with door handles off...it "should" go through right?
If not...worse case...I can take the doors off right? It's just a basic fridge - not a side by side or anything like that. My worry is, putting the doors back on and it doesn't fit correctly.
Other option is to take the metal piece off the back of the fridge. Not sure what that is or what it's there for, but can I do that? ...is it safe?
Here's a pic of the metal thing in the back if it helps any:

ooooo...ouch. What a nightmare.
Actually, that was going to be my next question, b/c the entrance way (door way) to the kitchen was measured, but the entry way (front door to the apt) was NOT measured!
I'm trying to save her a trip out there again (kind of far) to go measure the front door. Time is running out.
The front door has got to be wider than 28"-30" right? Or is there a possibility of it being less than that? I know that's a tough call, but maybe architecture is simple? There's rules to how wide a doorway is?

Standard entry doors are 36" wide less the 1/2" piece of wood on each side. Forgive me, my brain is not bringing the name up for that piece right now. Standard interior doors are 30" less those two pieces of wood. If doors do not swing all the way back, such as if there is a wall behind the door, then the thickness of the door is a factor, too, but it can be taken off its hinges.

Thanks twelvepole
I'm feeling even more confident now. Whew! I know what you mean about the wood piece on each side of the door
When I was explaining where to measure to my sis, I couldn't think of word either.

also might be good to know (if you don't already) that, not only can the fridge & freezer doors be completely removed easily, they can also be made to swing/hinge from the other side!!!! so if your sis wants the doors to open & swing out opposite of the way you had them, all you have to do is take off the handles & relocate them on the other side (where there are currently just "plugs"). then you'll use the plugs where the handles were! and then you do something at the top & bottom of each door & switch the hinges to the other side, too.
cool, huh?!

Very cool and thank you.
Something I didn't know nor think about. I like the idea of putting things back to where they came from or belonged so I'll keep this to myself and not give her options
...unless we run into a problem.
Thanks!!!

Thanks!!!
