Question GE Washer New Belt??

After smelling a wierd odor I opened the front of my washer and determined tht the belt on the bottom needed replacing (It made a wierd noise and seemed a little frayed and VERY sticky! Unit is 10 years old model WASR3110W0WW. My question is...How do I go about this job. The washer is working now and you know the rest...if it;s not broke.......But I think it may be soon!! Thanks...heymate (Richard)

GE belt

You should be able to pop the belt off the transmission first & then off clutch.
Belt is GE part # WH1X2026. If too tight, you'll have to loosen the 4 bolts holding motor. If belt is sticky, it could be oil leaking from tranny. Do you see any oil laying on bottom plate of washer? If so, just run washer till it quits. Trannys are expensive.
