Question Whirlpool Washer LSQ9549 - doesn't always spin

Sometimes I can get it to spin if I open the lid and drop it closed....if that makes any sense!!! And...sometimes it spins just fine on it's own!! We had a repairman out and he charged us $110 to move the drain hose. It worked better for a couple weeks...and that was it. We don't want to pay him again. And...the washer isn't even 2 years old yet. Any ideas of anything we can check for "worn" parts? If so, any diagrams we'll need? The "lid dropping" is confusing!! Thanks for the help!!!

Sounds like your lid switch or the mechanism on the lid that activates the switch isn't connecting properly. The lid switch is located under the control panel. You should hear the click from the switch when closing the lid (washer turned off).

Also check if the screws that attach the lid to the hinge are tight. Also check the lid to make sure it isn't "bowed in" from too much weight being put on it. It will pop back out.
