Question Maytag LDE7500ACW dryer will not shut off

Recently I've found my Maytag LDE7500ACW dryer will not shut down after drying clothes. It heats fine and clothes get dried but the dryer stays on and will not shut down. I always use Normal (not Delicate) and select a standard load. Dryer will shut off as soon as the door is opened. The vent runs into the wall about 6-inches then goes up through a 1-story roof. I cleaned the lint from the lower portion as far as I could reach, but not all the way to the roof, and it ran and shut off normally one time. Whether it was a fluke that it worked that one time, I can't say. I don't really know if it's totally clogged now or not but would that cause the problem of it not shutting down at the end of the cycle or should I look elsewhere for a solution?

Thank you

Maytag dryer

Sounds like the timer contacts are staying stuck together after the cycle is over. If timer gets to the stop position but keeps running, timer needs replaced.
