GE Washing machine WVSR1060A1WW

I am having a problem with my washing machine. 2 things have gone wrong at once. First the timer switch would not cycle to the next cycle. $83 later and thats fixed. Now once the machine cycles to the actual wash cycle the machine is full of water and the aggitator will not activate the wash cycle. I can cycle the switch to the rinse or spin cycles and it will then spin and drain. Occasionally i have to force the machine to spin by hand. The drive belt seems to be rubbing alot. I have alot of belt debri on the bottom of the machine. Cleaned it up and am replacing the belt as well. I have a newborn that is just goin through clothes like crazy and I am over this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance.

Look for the water level control in the console. Follow the hose back down to the tub [you'll have to take off the front panel] and see if the hose is obstructed/occluded or maybe has some water in it. If that's ok, you may have to replace the water level control. Let the machine fill and go to the point where it stops, then try blowing into the hose to see if the WLC makes to the full position. You'll need to have the lid closed or the lid switch bypassed. I'm not sure why the belt is shredding unless maybe it's an older machine and the belt is just worn. Let us know how you make out.
