Whirlpool washer Clothes still wet after spin

I have an Whirlpool Imperial washer Model #LA6800XPN1 Serial # C64920353. I noticed thee clothes coming out of the washer were wet, not dripping but more than damp. I figured that a filter may be clogged. I have the top off and I took the agitator off but I can't get the drum nut (it holds the drum to the tranny shaft) off. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Al

First thing to look for is that centrigugal force has pinned the clothes to the side wall. If not, then you have a spin speed issue, rather than a water evacuation issue.

Wrong end of washer, look under it to seeif any oil leaking, If spining but not fast enough, usually oil in clutch, silver peice above gearcase
