jenn-air side-by-side not cooling the fridge

Hey,
I've been struggling with an issue for the past 3 days with my Jenn-air model 2289aeb model fridge. I first noticed that it wasn't hold a good temp in the fridge, but the freezer seemed to be fine. I took the temp, and it came up at 66 degress in the fridge. I did some searching on internet, and I saw some threads about a similar problem. I did notice that on the freezer top shelf area on the back wally benid a "false wall" I could see icicles forming. So I decided to pull everything out, and I let it thaw for 18 hours or so. I took some compressed air, and I blew out coil type things( on the bottom back of the unit) It was where the fan was hooked up too. So I plugged it back in, and it seems to have gotten down to 39-40 degrees (taking like 12 -15 hours to do that), when I have the fridge setting to the coldest. Which seems like it should go higher.

So now I have a couple of questions.
1) I see a bunch of water in the drain pan on the floor. I'm not quite sure how to get water out of there. It doesn't look like it just slides out or anything.
2) I don't think I've really fixed the problem. Does anyone have any ideas on other things I should be looking at? I know that the one thread I read, said something about taking out a blow dryer, and making sure that some component is completely empty of any blockage. The thread I read wasn't specific to the jenn-air, so I thought I would open a thread on this board.

Thanks in advance, for any assistance you can provide.

spfrancis: jenn-air side/side

See my post about the amana. I suspect that the systems are similiar. Another site that I have found very helpful, if you have never been there is: ....repairclinic.com. Lot of useful info and also order parts. Good luck.

Hey,thanks for your help. So after some more reading, and some more diagnosis, I think I have have found one underlying symptom. I pulled out the plastic that is covering the coils in the lower part of the freezer. I do see that on the top of the coils that it is starting to freeze over. The majority of the coils are fine, but the top is frosting over. This has only been plugged in for about 1.5 days know, since I tried to thaw it out. I think I read on some site, that this may be a "System" problem, which eludes to compressor failing, or leakn in system. Anyone have an alternate diagnosis, or others things to check to rule out? If that is the case, do you think I'm better just buying a new fridge, or try to figure out if it is the compressor, and then try to replace that?
Thanks.

So after putting a thermometer in the freezer, it does look like the temp is down too 11degree F, after being in there for 3 hours, with the Freezer setting in the middle. That seems to imply that the freezer is working fine, which to me means that the compressor and the freon(sp?) is fine. So then it comes down to how affectively the cold is being pushed into the fridge compartment. I am still trying to understand how the fridge compartment gets cooled. I see some sort of went on the top of the freezer, that seems to go over to the fridge compartment. I don't see much airflow there. When I wet my finger, and put it in the fridge side, I feel a little air, but not much. On the bottom of the freezer, I see an opening that goes to the fridge. But it must seems like something to get circulation? Sorry for all the novice type questions. So from my reading, it sounds like there is an air damper, or something that controls air to the fridge. Is it possible that this isn't working properly. I do see a temp squiggley metal sensor on the freezer side, that seems to go to a box on the fridge side. I'm not really sure what that is supposed to control.

Any help would be appreciated.

I was trying to understand how to test my defrost heater, and thermostat, to verify that it is infact coming on and defrosting the freezer. I was reading the help on the one site that was recommended, but I'm have a basic question. It looks like my unit will not have that advance screw to test manually, since it is Adaptive Defrost control board. So with that being said, I don't understand the description provided in other posts of how to test ther thermostat. Can I put a lighter up to the sensor part, and will it go into defrost mode? The one descriptoin talks about multimeters, and testing ends, but I still am missing how to get it into the refridge mode, and to the heating mode?

Thanks.

Sounds like my problem is related to the control board for the defrost mechanism. I was speaking to one of my neighbor's who had the exact same issues, and that was what the service guy fixed to make the probem go away, I thought I would post it out here, incase anyone has a similar problem with the Jenn-air
