Dishwasher didn't drain and now water doesn't appear to come in

When I went to empty the dishwasher this morning I noticed that a lot of the dishes were still wet. Then I noticed that there was about 1/4" of water in the bottom of the tub.

I removed the sump cover and got all of the water out of the tub (there's still some in the sump). I couldn't feel anything down in the sump.

I tried running the dishwasher again to see if the pump would drain the water but I never heard the sound it makes when it drains. Then I noticed that it was not very wet inside the washer so I ran it with the door slightly open and the wash arm never moved and I couldn't see any water coming in.

Could this all be one problem or two different issues.

The machine is 8 years old, it came with the house (new construction). Model is GSD2230Z05WW

If you are not getting water into the DW I would look at inside the tub and find the float. This tells the DW when it is full of water and not to feed anymore into it. If the float is stuck, it will not fill with water, as the DW thinks it is alreay full. You should be able to move it up and down easily. If you listen as you move it, you will be able to hear a slight click as the float trips the switch. Many times I have found the shaft of the float gets coated with soap and doesn't move freely.
As for the 1/4" of water in the bottom of the DW, this is not uncommon, many DW will not drain all of the water out of the tub.
Without enough water in the tub, the spray arm will not move as there isn't enough water in the tub for the pump to pump water through the arm(s).

Thanks for the reply. I checked the float and it was working normally. It moves fine and I can "feel" it click when it gets towards the top of the travel. I tried all of the things I found online short of disassembling anything. We ended up buying a replacement since it was a pretty low end model anyway.
