Exclamation Kenmore Upright Freezer not cooling

We have a Kenmore upright freezer (only a freezer - no fridge). That was purchased in December 06. My other half accidentally unplugged it. We live in Houston, so by the time we realized the problem, we had a big mess. We plugged it back in to cool it down before cleaning it out (the smell could have killed you). While it worked perfectly before, it is no longer cooling. Has anyone had a similar problem?

I tried adjusting the temp on the digital display in front, but that didn't help. Any ideas?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Do you hear any signs of it running? - like the compressor?

Like 51 said, check to see if there is any sounds coming from the compressor. Since the display is working you for sure have power to the unit. How long did you leave it plugged in?
