Question Dryer Motor Rotation

I just replaced my Whirlpool dryer motor with a 279827, and it turns counter clock wise. The original motor was a 3976707. Can I just turn the wiring harness 180, or do I need to change the jumper wires on the motor? What is the correct fix, short of returning the motor.

It is backwards for sure? Did you install it or not? If yes, does air suck in the vent and out the lint screen?, or not even turn as the tension is messed up? If installed, they will not take it back.

You can't just reverse a harness. IF the motor can be reversed, 2 wires are involved externally that will allow this on certain motors that are sold that can be reversed. You'd have to ask if that motor is reversible and what wires to switch.

Thanks for your reply. It's working fine. My mistake was listening to wife when she said it was turning backwards. After reading your reply, I felt stupid for not checking the suction or the tension as you explained. Again, Mahalo for your quick response.
