Chicken refrigerator
I have a brand new Kenmore refrigerator that makes a clucking sound just like a chicken.
It does this when it first starts up, lasts for about 6-8 'clucks' and then runs as usual.
I've only had this thing about a week.
Any ideas?

Ever think to open the freezer door when this is going on to hear if the sound is coming from a slipping or ice-impaired freezer fan at the back rear of freezer compartment? My own does weird noises sometimes, and that is the cause.

It sounds to me like it comes from the compressor.

The more you can tell us what you think it is, the less needless guessing we have to do. So, if you think it is the compressor, what I would be doing is pull out the fridge from the wall and expose the compressor and listen. Perhaps it is clicking on and off from a bad relay/overload that is likely mounted to the compressor down there.

Thanks for your continued help!
It's not turning on and off, the fan and compressor turn on, and are running for a few seconds (10-15) when the 'clucking' happens. I get a few (6-10) 'clucks' which if you held a gun to my head I would say sounded like bubbles in the fluid/freon/whatevertheyputintherethesedays lines.
Then everything runs as it should.
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you but I travel quite a bit.

Said it before, I'll say it again....
New fridges make noise....I have the exact same kind of sound with my 1 y/o Maytag. Prob made by the same company...lol
Is it cooling ok?
If you can get someone to come out, I'll bet they say the same thing. Some are noisier than others. I was specifically told by a local independent dealer that the Frigidaires are noisier than some...dunno if it's true or not.
