ghost in my freezer!!!

I have a ge profile TFX30pr 29.8 cuf fridge that has a ghost in the freezer. the flapper door for the ice shute just stated opening and closing all by its self. narrowed it down to the curcit board, selniod or switch,but parts are to expensive to be guessing. unplug board nothing works plug in and close door and flapper goes haywire open door and flapper closes. should close when you close the door.any ideas? and this is the second time typing this the first time i did as soon as i went to send the power went out !!! maybe it really

is a ghost!!!

I have seen this in the Maytag refrigerators. It is the circuit board that fails causing the ice door to open and close by itself. I am pretty sure it would be the control board in your case.

Should I talk landlady into chancing it on washer timer?

In a college rental that sees plenty of use, the washer is an old harvest gold with faux wood grain back panel Kenmore washer (has 1985 magic marker date on back which I'm not sure what that means other than the fact it is going to be at LEAST 1985 or before) that weighs a ton, sits firm and flat on the floor, and has the metal sides and front that wrap around in one piece. The timer is shot. The male tenants were to drive about 200 miles to landlady's house to pick up either a new or newer washer from her and bring it back. They did not get around to it yet, and now are planning on doing it in 3 weeks. The timer definitely is screwed up. Other than that, the machine runs good and no leaks. The landlady told me a couple weeks ago she does not want to take the chance. Yet she values my opinions. Now after pondering that this old machine, that BTW is part of a matching set with the dryer that is still going strong - I'm wondering if this nmachine may be of the stock of the era of good machines that can last and last and may be worth spending the $130 on for the new timer? If it was me, I told the kid today, I'd be tempted to chance it.Read More

Fridge died after moving house.

Hi, We recently moved house and our fridge was unplugged for about 2 hours. At our new house we plugged the fridge in and it worked fine and was starting to get cold. About four hours later there was a really loud popping sound and the fridge died and tripped the house circuit breaker. The fridge is now completely dead, no light or compressors or anything. I checked all the wiring and everything seems fine. I reset the circuit breaker and the fridge hasn't tripped it again, the fridge is just completely dead. Any ideas?
