How to close dryer vent

Hi!
Our dryer vent in our new house runs thru the second floor to an exit in the soffit outside the garage door. Since the vent blows down it is always open to outside air. Is there some way we can close this for the winter that we can easily open when we use the dryer? Someone told us that there is a product that we install behind the dryer to open and close the vent. Does anyone know what this is? I have not been to find anything.

Thanks

They make covers for dryer vents with flappers just for this. Check with almost any Big Box or any hardware store.

we purchased a vent cover that has a popup cover it seals the vent very well, bought it at either hd or lowes, just tried to find it on their web sites but could not. but if you can find that it is the best i have tried.

life begins when the kids leave home and the dog dies
