Frigidaire Dryer not start, Hear buzz when press START

Hi there,

We have this Frigidaire Dryer heavy duty for about 8yrs now, haven't had any problem since bought and looks like its about time.

It stop running this afternoon. It suddenly stop 15min in the dryin cycle.
If I press the START button I can hear the normally electric current *buzz* but it doesn't wanting to start.

Could this be a broken belt? Is there still power to START button if belt break? because I was read other thread that there is a safety switch spring of when belt break.

Suggestion/help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Check thermo fuse first. Unplug dryer Lift top and fuse is in the back right mounted on the heater. Need a ohm meter to check. Post model # can give better help.

doubt its the fuse since it buzzes

open the door and push the door switch in. then try to start it and hold it on start, and with your 3rd hand rotate the drum.

this will often get it working again for awhile. permanent fix is to replace the motor.

if is hard to rotate the drum by hand you could have something stuck in the blower wheel.

Thank you guys,

Yeah I try what Thompson had suggested and it will start. It seem to be normal when turn by hand, not very hard to turn at all.

There was no maintenance done on this before. I plan to take it apart to at least clean and lube the wheels. I didn't think there was much to do for maintenance on these but will start doing it every 2yrs now. My water heater broke down awhile ago and got some help here to fix it and have been doing yearly maintenace every since.

Is it alway the motor is bad when this problem occur?
The motor is weaken and can't start on its own?
How much is it average for a motor? I will look up the model tmr.
How do I open this dryer, are there screw in the back?
I'm planning to do it this weekend just to prepare.
Thanks

Can you recheck the model #?. I found an FDE216RES0 [no C]. The motor's $105 to $142 plus shipping online. Let us know what you find. Thanks.

I found it without the c
FRIGIDAIRE | Model #FDE216RES0 | FRIGIDAIRE GAS DRYER - 5995285276 | SearsPartsDirect.com
All prices are there. After you get motor # go to E Bay and try to find one there.
