Kenmore 363.1441590 won't drain at end of cycle
Machine runs fine but accumulates water until it starts dripping out the front. I can manually push the solenoid activatd switch down and it drains. The solenoid seems to have enough strength to hold it down as long as needed. Unfortunately it doesn't go down without manual intervention. Except for not draining the machine works fine.
This sounds like a switch but I'm not a repairman. Thoughts? How could I test further to see what is wrong?

From your description your talking about a dishwasher and from the first three numbers in the model number it was made by GE. The first thing you should check is the float because it should stop the water coming in before it overflows even if it won’t drain. The float is located in the left front corner of the tub under a cover. Remove the cover and check to see if there is soap scum causing the float not to float up and down freely. Then the thing I would check for the draining problem is the piston (some models do not have this part) located under the filter in the back of the tub. The piston acts like a check valve allowing water to flow only one way. If the piston is bad the washer will pump-out only half of the water. Also the solenoid its self may be bad but most of the time when they are bad you cannot press them down manually. For more on this visit Appliance Repair Guide For All Major Home Appliances
