Maytag washer fills with water

After using Maytag washer, model LAT4910AAW, the washer will fill with water up to about 6 inches in a few hours. There is no leakage on outside of washer, only this water inside the tub. It still seems to work OK. Water can easily be eliminated by using spin cycle. But, fear that this might develop into a much worse problem. Any suggestions?

sounds like a leaky inlet valve. is it hot or cold its filling with. might want to turn off the hot or cold for a while to see which one is leaking into the washer then you can turn it off until its fixed as it will raise your water bill.

definitely turn water off to machine until you can replace inlet valve.
