Hi limit is either closed or bad. Disconnect vent from back of dryer and runit that way to see if dryer works ok that way. Sounds like you have a blocked vent tube.

the high limit should stay closed all the time as the dryer should cycle on the lower limit thermostat. you could verify this with a voltmeter when the heat cycles off

disconnect the vent and measure the exhaust temp air with a meat thermometer. if it gets up to 150F on high then dryer is ok problem is the vent.

High limit thermostat is easily replaced but it only has 2 conditions, closed (good) open (bad) thermostat does not cycle, It is more like a fuse. Keep us posted as to what you find.

yes, it reaches 150f without the vent connected. Then the element shuts off. The temp drops below 100f. then the element turns back on and the heat goes back up to150f and so on so this means all i need to do is replace the vent.

It means that you have clean or replace the flexible vent tube and clean and , or replace the vent to the outside. If a plastic vent tube in wall I would replace it. (Fire hazard)
