whirlpool washer agitate, fills but won't drain or spin

Hi all,
I have an older Whirlpool washer (model LSV7244AQ0 ) and apparently overloaded it with a lightweight matress cover -- not so light when wet! It unbalanced the machine and when I rebalanced it, it would agitate and fill but not spin or drain. I read some other threads but since I don't have a manual that shows the "lid switch" I"m not sure where that is and if it is working. The timer seems to be working because if I put it on spin, it doesn't spin but will tick down and start filling for a second rinse. I'm not particularyly mechanical but hate to spend money for someone to come and flip a swich or something if I can try myself.
Any help is appreciated

if the motor does not turn when you turn it to spin its most likely its the lid switch. part# 285671.

you can confirm this by removing the 2 screws in the bottom front of console so you can flip console upwards. then temporarily bypass the switch with a piece of wire

Thanks so much! I don't have any diagram to know which is the switch to try to bypass it. I found a picture on the web of the part, but is there somewhere to look to get a picture of where it goes? I can open the console and flip it back but I can't see a switch in my console that looks exactly like the part diagram....

Also, I just looked in the washer again and found a small (about 1-2 inch) piece of white plastic in there. I don't see any place it could have come from... but??
Thank you again.

the switch connector goes through the top of the cabinet in the rear. it is the only connector that does this
