NEED help with putting a self cleaning oven door back on, please?
I took off my oven door to replace the inside glass. Got it all torn apart, put in the new glass and put it all back together without killing someone. Now our major problem is trying to get the darn oven door back on the oven but it will not go back on. The hinges keep snapping back before we can get them seated back in the slots in the range. Can someone tell me what we are doing wrong? Would appreciate any help that anyone can give. We have the following GE free standing electric range. Thanks in advance!!!

Try putting something in between the hinges and the range body to stop them from snapping in. Perhaps the handles of 2 screwdrivers or similar.

GE electric stove Ceramic top replacement

How do I replace the ceramic top on my GE electric stove? The top is cracked and broken in many places because a heavy object was dropped on it. Only one burner does not have a crack across the surface. Does the top have screws or bolts from the bottom? Does it just sit on top of the seal, so that it can be lifted out of the recess around the edge of the the stove top? I have ordered the new replacement top, so I am hoping that I can replace it myself. Thanks for your help.Read More

Trouble with GE icemaker

I have a GE refrigerator that I bought in 1996 (model number TFX24PRXB WW). It's a side by side with ice and water through the door. The icemaker makes the half-moon style cubes. Water through the door works fine. Last week, the icemaker quite making ice. I checked the supply line and it is not plugged. Yesterday, I replaced the water valve at the back of the freezer (bottom back corner of the unit). The valve is definitely receiving the signal to supply water. When I plugged the refrigerator back in, water flowed into the icemaker tray. Overnight, the icemaker made one tray of ice and successfully ejected the cubes into the bin. When I got up this morning, I stuck my finger in the tray and the cubes were in the process of forming. After about an hour, the cubes were solid. I put my hand on the underside of the icemaker and the icemaker was in the process of heating up, so that the cubes could be ejected. It was fairly hot to the touch. When I checked it four hours later, no new cubes were in the tray, and the cubes were again slushy. It looks like water is getting to the tray correctly, the cubes are freezing correctly, but the cubes are then just sitting in the tray until they are thawed by the warm cycle. The freezer is definitely cold enough. I pulled the cover off of the icemaker housing. The gears are in good condition. Do I need a new icemaker? Any help would be really appreciated!!!!!Read More
