Kenmore #596 ice maker problems

The ice maker allows water to flow into the back of the ice tray creating a glob of ice at the back left corner of the tray. The cubes eject into the tray normally but then the extra water comes and freezes. Apparently this unit is made by Amana. It has a bottom freezer. Any ideas?

Does the excess water appear during the fill cycle [overflow]? Is the incoming water missing it's mark as though the fill tube may be cracked or out of place? Or is the excess water dribbling in at others times?- ie: not during the fill cycle.

Kenmore ice maker

Excess water is dribbling in at all times. There is constantly an ice build up in the back left corner of the ice bin.

The water inlet valve is leaking thru. If you can post the full model #, I'll see if I can find a part # for you.

Kenmore ice maker

The full model number is 596 7350 3203 (24.8cf). I'm pretty handy and if I could see a diagram or some replacement instructions, I can make the repair myself. Thanks for your help.

Parts diagrams here:

You'll have to trace the tubing to see which water valve is which.

The diagram shows an "inlet, water" part which looks like a valve at the location where my water is leaking into my ice bucket. I will investigate it further. Thanks for your help.
