ge washer
I have a 2002 ge washer M# WJSR2070B2WW. It seems that the agitator might be loose. How do you tighten it?

There should be a cap that snaps on over the top center (it may screw on) that will allow you to look in and see how it is held in place. There may be a bolt or nut, can't really tell from the diagram...

I could not pull it up with my hands. How much free flay from sise to side should there be and how can you pry up the agitator? Thanks Ron

GE pretty much built all their washers the same way for about the last 30 or 40 years.
They are a very simple machine to work on or fix.
Sometimes the cap doesn't come off.
Sometimes you have to pull real hard to get the agitator out and other times if it is stripped - you will still have a hard time getting it out.
Sometimes the inside of the agitator is made of brass and does not damage the input shaft on the transmission.
I busted the cap off one and I drilled a 1/4 - 20 hole down through it and held it in place with a simple bolt and a stainless steel washer.
I don't think that there is enough room inside of the washing machine to put a pry bar inside of the machine to get it out.
The top is usually held on with two snaps in the front. Nothing but two simple pieces of triangular spring steel that snaps down inside of two rectangle holes.
The wiring is usually long enough out of the controls to lift up the top of the machine without damaging it.
You might want to open it up.
