Question dishwasher doesn't work

Our Whirlpool dishwasher quit today.
It started to work this morning as there is water in the tub.
When I push on any control panel (touchpad) buttons nothing happens except the lights work.
And I don't hear any noise as if it is trying to work.

Although mechanically inclined, I have never worked on a dishwasher before so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Steve

model # GU940SCGZ2

Turn off the breaker for the dishwasher to see if it resets. Or push proper button to "cancel". See then if it wil try to start a new cycle, then run it to see if it gets stuck again at same point in the cycle it already did. Read user guide as often they troubleshoot basic maladies, and some you might not have thought of.

Stopping mid-cycle though is disheartening.

I'm not sure if they provide tech support. Some companies do and some don't. Some will say to call 1-800-XXX-XXXX on the front page of the user manual.

I tried the reset procedure with no luck. It will fill the tub again but nothing else.

I pulled the door panel & checked the thermal fuse & door switch.
The fuse reads 0, that means it is good correct?
Door switch reads 0 when depressed, OL when not. That is good too?
I checked the float switch with the same results as the door switch.

Is there any way to get a schematic that shows what to test/check in a sequenctial order?
Thanks again, Seve

So - it fills with water after resetting? Was there water in it already when you reset it or not?

Does your dishwasher require the water to be hot enough upon entry to get the dishwasher to run? The newer ones I believe do that. They recommend so that you do not have that problem of the machine not running, to be sure to run the kitchen sink water till it gets hot, first - and then start the dishwasher. Other than this, it must be something(especially if you hear no motor hum) like with a timer or board control.
