4 yr old Frigidaire Fridge not cooling! Help!

For a while now, our freezer would not freeze ice cream, but froze everything else solid. But in last 2 days, auto ice maker stopped producing ice and bread and other freezer items are defrosting.
I vacuumed coils (which were horribly covered in dust...) last night, but now 24 hours later the freezer item defrosting is worse.
Also, the fridge side is now not cold.
I checked again: the fan is blowing over the coils, but the coils are warm.. not cold.
Should the coils be cold?
Help!!!
Why is all of this happening??

Which coil is hot?

Which coil are you talking about? If you are talking about the one underneath the fridge; it is supposed to be hot. The one in the freezer is supposed to be cold. Check in the freezer and see if there is ice buildup on the coil behind metal panel. If so then you have a defrost problem and it won't get cold if ice is blocking coil. You can thaw it out with hair dryer temporarily until you diagnose defrost problem.
Is the fan inside fridge running?
It's hard to tell without being there...LOL!
