GE Dishwasher stuck on dry cycle

I have a GE 24 in. ZBD0710KSS Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher. We turned it on last night and this morning found it on, hot, and making beeping noises. It seemed to have gotten stuck in the dry cycle. I have turned the breaker off. The inside did get hot, because a small aluminum cup turned from aluminum color to black. What should I check?

The dry cycle is a long cycle. If I was in your shoes, I think I'd let it get stuck again, to make sure it gets stuck again - then if it does, (see if it gets stuck again in same place as last time), then advance the timer a couple clicks to see if it moved on it's own after that. If it does, I'd repeat the test. If it does this same thing, I think that would have to pretty much confirm the timer is getting stuck. I do not know of any other issue, safety feature or otherwise, that could be holding it in the dry cycle .
