Estate Dryer Timer problem?

I am helping a neighbor with their estate dryer (TED8840PQ0) It is having problems running. It will only run while putting pressure on the timer dial. If you let go it will only for a few seconds and then the buzzer goes off and the dryer stops. After messing with it for a few minutes you can get it to run for up to 5 minutes before it buzzes again and stops.

I am assuming that it is the timer going bad but want a second opinion before I have them pick one up.

Thanks
