temperature probe for GE microwave convection oven - fix or replace?

I have a GE convection microwave oven model # jvm190k 004. the temperature probe (# AP2023186) is loose at the spear end on both sides of the plastic/rubber part. It works intermittently if I twist it just right. Anyone have any experience working on this or should I just buy a replacement for about $80.

Part Details - GE Probe, part number: AP2023186

I find that I don't even use the probes. If you do use it more than occasionally, I would pop for a new one as fixing the old one may be "iffy" regarding calibration. Surely there are outlets far cheaper than a dealer, although that is who I buy my parts through.
