Kenmore dishwasher solenoid seizes with cold water
I have a Kenmore dishwasher a couple of years old. In Winter, the water pipes under the sink are cold. The hot water line is cold until water starts flowing. The inlet solenoid valve will not operate with cold water so remains closed. I have to remove the bottom plate and go at it with a hair dryer. Once flow starts there is no problem.
I suspect there is no simple resolution but am open to ideas. Is this a common problem and is it something that has been subject to recalls?

Your issue sounds two-fold. You may be in a situation where you may have to go ahead and replace the solenoid. You have to make sure this is not deteriorated. Does this particular model have a piston nut assembly? This also may have deteriorated.
