Maytag Performa model no. pavt234aww knocking during first cycle

Hi,

I have a Maytag performa top loading washer that is making a very loud knocking noise during the initial wash cycle and does not appear to be agitating. I think the spin is functional but is still loud.

How is the best way to go about diagnosing the problem? Where should I look first? Transmission, belt, springs?

Sounds like you need a transmission. here is a link to your washer. I would not spend a lot of money on washer. If you do decide to repair I would get the 6mount springs and snubber. You will need them in future. parts needed 9, 11, 21, 22 here is a break down

amana front loader washer no spin

I have an Amana Front Load Washer #NFW7200TW that will not spin intermittently, I ran all diagnosis in trouble shooting guide that came with the machine, and receive no error codes. I suspect a faulty C/B. Are there any commom causes for not spinning. Door is shut and locked, motor is good because it does rotate back and forth during wash cycle and it spins when it wants to. Pump seems to be working fine and does pomp water out. If I put it spin only, some times it spins, and some times it just sits there. Kenmore dishwasher solenoid seizes with cold water

I have a Kenmore dishwasher a couple of years old. In Winter, the water pipes under the sink are cold. The hot water line is cold until water starts flowing. The inlet solenoid valve will not operate with cold water so remains closed. I have to remove the bottom plate and go at it with a hair dryer. Once flow starts there is no problem.
