Water accumulated at the bottom of dishwasher

I have a dishwasher (model: Whirlpool DU929PFGB2). It drains well, but when I use the disposal, the water gets fed into the dishwasher. Do I need to replace some part so that water from the disposal stays in the drain pipe only, but not getting inside the dishwasher?

Thank you for your reply!

harjotw,

Start here

Check for a restriction in the pump and drain hose.
Check for kinks in the drain hose itself.
Likely issue could be the piston valve.

Is there a loop in the hose from the disposal up and higher than the dishwasher? You need that or an air gap installed (some codes require it) in order to keep water from puking into your dishwasher.

There is no hose loop. I raised the hose under the sink higher than the disposal, and no water going back to the dishwasher now. I googled this and then looked at the air gap option, but there is no hole on the sink to install it unless I can find a tool to make a hole on the steel sink.

Unless local code calls for it, I wouldn't go to the trouble of trying to drill stainless steel what a bear! It appears attaching the hose in a loop solved your problem, so it ain't broke......enjoy.
