Kenore Coldspot Rerigerator keeps running

This morning when I got up I noticed a burned type smell in my kitchen. Although I could not locate what was burning or was burnt I did notice while sitting in the kitchen that my refrigerator was constantly running. Normally while sitting there I would hear it come on and then shut off periodically, or when the door was open and then shut turn on for a bit then click off.

Now it runs constantly but I can hear the click that usually shuts it down but it dosent shut down.

I turned down the temp control but it did not shut down till I put it on off.

I did notice that when I turned it off and turned it back on seconds later the compressor turned immediately back on. Im assuming that like an airconditioner the compressor should have not come right back on, until probably a minute or so later. Not sure if that means anything.

Everything is cold in the fridge and freezer like usual but I know there is something wrong. Its been about 4 hours since I got up and the frige has not shut off.

Can anybody possibly give me any ideas as to what could be causing this.

I dont know but I would turn it off for now until you get an answer. Reduce the time you open the door to the fridge and run it 20 minutes every couple of hours to keep things cool.

Ok for all who are interested. Wife came home ice cream melted, fridge and freezer no longer cooling.
Called local appliance repair co becuase I was at work and she was flippin out.
Tech replaced compressor start-dev. All is back to normal.
Old relay was cooked. That was the smell!
