Amana Refrigerator Model # ARB2117AW Freezer on bottom!!!
We have an Amana refrigerator model # ARB2117AW that is about
6 years old. The freezer on the bottom works great but the refrigerator
on top is warm (Barely cooling). It is cycling on and off. I remember this
problem before and a new timer was installed,, and I think the service man removed alot of ice build up.
Is there anything that I can do before calling another service company?
I have been reading about Defrost timers, Fans, and just unplugging it overnight.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Many thanx,

IF the defrost timer is still in working order, there is a distinct possibility the defrost element is "open", and not heating to remove the ice build up with each cycle. Can you access the area where the frost build up was? The heating element is at the bottom.

I think access to the elements are from inside in the back. I remember a service tech removing alot of ice. Also, I cannot get a coil brush under the frige no matter what to clean dust buildup. It is cooling normally again after almost 2 days of malfunction. I think if it happens again (and soon it will) , I will unplug it for 2 or 3 days.
Thank you for your reply,

If he removed a lot of ice, there should be a removable panel inside the freezer. That is where you will find the coils and the defrost element below them.
