Frigidaire Dishwasher FDB510LCB0 No Water

My Frigidaire Dishwasher FDB510LCB0 is not getting any water. In addition, it has not been washing the dishes properly for sometime. There is always crud on them and we have to rewash everything. But now it isn't working at all.... after a cycle of washing with no water, it heats and stays hot to really bake on the food-lol. Any advice? Thanks in advance. Can't afford a repairman or new dishwasher!

Welcome to the forums! Aside from deep sixing the unit, let's start by looking in the front left corner of the tub. You will see an inverted bell. Does it move freely up and down? That is your shut off valve, and if it is stuck in the down position which can happen with crud build up, it won't admit water. On the other hand if it is stuck in the down position water will continue to flow until the unit overflows onto your floor. When was the last time you removed and cleaned the filters in the center of the tub? May be time. Let us know how these things pan out, before we go to plan B.

Clean filters? What filters? lol

I checked the first thingie and it was not stuck in either position. However, I have never cleaned any filters (nor even knew I was supposed to - oops). How would I do that? And what is "plan B" because I have a feeling that it will be a plan b or deep six. From some other posts, it looks like i might need a new water valve? Meanwhile, I am stocking up on rubber gloves for hand washing dishes... Thanks for your help!

You can remove the lower washer arm, sometimes by unscrewing a nut or pulling directly up on it. The filters are located below, and if you haven't cleaned them, you will recognize them. They will pull out and you can clean them in the dishwasher , forgot, you don't have one, so you'll have to don the rubber gloves!

DH thinks it's the pump...

My husband says he observed water coming in the tub, and he thinks the pump is only pumping water one way. If the pump is not working right, I guess that means replacement of the pump (probably can't repair the pump, I'm guessing). That combined with having to replace the lower spray arm (the heat burned a hole in it), will be between 150- 175 for parts, and no guarantee that we are even capable of replacing the pump. (we are challenged in repairing things). Is it time to write the obit for the dishwasher? Thanks for your advice!

I think that is a grand idea at this point. Plus it gets you out of those hideous gloves Gee.
