Hello, I'm hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. I don't mind calling a repair man but I like to have some idea of what's happening first. As a female I don't want to get "taken" ;) I have a Kenmore washer circa 1978. It has a metal ID plate on it with the following numbers (sorry, I don't know which is the S/N) - in small numbers: "4821070" and beside that in larger numbers "FM15975" and underneath: "9.0" Today the machine went through the wash cycle but on the rinse cycle it wouldn't drain the water and wouldn't spin. I smelled a faint "burning rubber" smell. While it is trying to drain, I can hear a motor or pump noise like it is trying to drain. I don't think it's the lid switch as it doesn't appear broken and when I press it down manually I hear the click. Any suggestions on what it could be? Thanks!

I am replacing the drain pump on my Lg washer (WM 2077CW). When I disconnected the old pump there appeared to be two black wires feeding it. But now as I look closer I notice that there is a black and brown wire. The new pump is marked with a L and a N. Nomally if I had a black and white wire I would connect the black to the L and the white to the N but with the one brown and the bends in the wires that seem to put the black wire on the N, I'm not sure. Can anyone tell me the proper connection? Thanks
