Whirlpool washer model TAWS800JQ1, ser # CL3146991. When washer is not running I am getting water running into machine (very little) but you can hear it. I am guessing this is a bad water fill valve? Would appreciate any comments before I replace. Thanks

We have a very old (about 20 years old) Sears 80 Series washing machine (Model 110.82983110). It will not agitate, spin, or drain. It will fill up with water. I just replaced the lid switch but unfortunately it did not fix it. With the lid down and it turned on, you can see the timer turn and you can hear it tick. With the lid up, the timer stops so I am sure I installed it correctly. What else could it be? I realize it may be time to replace it. I probably will have to do that if I cannot fix it myself because I would rather put the repair person $$$ toward a new machine. Thanks.
