Washing Machine Loud Noise
I have an Alliance/Speed Queen top loader washing machine model SWT220WN thats about 5 years old. The other day its started making a load whining and squeeling sound when its running, whether agitating or not.
At first I thought it was the motor or transmission or belt but it feels more like its coming from the drain pump. The sound changes frequency when in different modes (delicate/normal/ final rinse etc). It also makes the noise whether full of clothes or not. Is that somewhat common thing to make noise like that when it goes?? Thanks!

I can't help you to much on that one, There is a clutch assy. that makes noise but I have never worked on it. Take the front off and check belt.

A very common thing with this noise would be something in the drain pump. Most common thing is an underwire from a bra. I would try removing the pump and turn it by hand. If its noisy thats the porblem. Hope this helps.
