Kenmore Dryer -- starts spin then stops quickly

I have a KenmoreDryer model 110.70172000. It starts the drying cycle and rotates the drum for a couple of turns. It then stops. This cyscle can be repeated with just a few seconds wait. Is there something that is cutting off power to the motor or is there something inside the motor that causes this shutdown. Replacing the motor is kind of expensive, so I am looking for a better than "shotgun approach". Please help.

There is a overheat switch in motor. It is the only reset able switch in dryer. Take a look at the wire going into the dryer from wall. UNPLUG DRYER FIRST Take off the cover and make sure the wires are tight. Loose nuts there can cause your problem but I don't think it's it. You can open dryer leave door switch connected, Take out drum and than you can run dryer motor. Should have 120 volts to blue wire at motor.
