Kenmore 80 series mod# 110 20892990 won't spin or agitate, checked coupler
My Kenmore 80 series mod# 110 20892990 won't spin or agitate. Sometimes it starts for a second, then the motor just hums. The lights dim the the laundry room for second which makes me think it's trying to spin.
Based on advice from the forums I opened it up, removed and inpsected the couple and it looks fine. when I disconnected the pump, removed the motor and bypassed the lid switch the motor will spin fine in both the agitate and spin selctions on the control switch.
What is next to check, and how do I do it. Many thanks.

Sounds like you have a sock stuck in water pump, Most likely you will need to replace pump, I have no luck getting a stuck sock out. Take off pump (careful will have water in it) look in inlet and you will see sock.

Looks like you will have to take basket out to see if anything under it. Would have to be something fairly large to jam basket. Can't think of anything else.

sorry to be a little off topic, I have a similar unit with a different problem. How do you find the series number?
Mine is also a 110.23832100 model number, but I see yours is a little different.
Mine will not spin on the second try after the rinse...I was thinking clutch, but it will spin on the first spin cycle.

Does it fill when it gets to rinse? No reason will spin first time and not second time, Both work on same circuit. Look under washer about 6 inches up on inside of cabinet for a oil streak. if there you need a gearcase top seal, clutch and drive coupler. Lean washer back against wall to heck.

It does fill on both rinse settings of the cycle. Just seems that the second time around for the final spin it does not spin. I am thinking that since the clothing, or materials in the washer are totally saturated with water now, it may be too heavy to spin. Although, I did do a smaller load of laundry to test it. I am thinking clutch is then slipping, have to tip it up and take a look.
