First time posting on here. I looked through the forms trying to figure out what is wrong, but don't see anyone with a similar issue. I have a Maytag Centennial Dryer that I just purchased new 3 months ago. I believe the dryer has been having this issue since I received it. Every time I use the dryer and open it mid cycle the timer continues to run until it reaches the off point. The timer will run whether the door is open or not, but the dryer does not engage unless you hit the start button. This is particularly frustrating when using the energy preferred setting because the dryer will signal it is finished and I take the clothes out. However there is a wrinkle resistant cycle after the energy preferred portion is finished that continues afterward. Even though the cycle is done and I opened the door the timer continues to click all the way until it reaches off. I could be wrong, but I don't believe the timer is supposed to continue running after you open the door. Like I said the dryer is not engaged while the timer is running, it just makes a clicking noise every minute or so. This occurs whether the door is open or closed. Have power to unit, Push to start switch constant power, heating element not open nor is safety therm. When I push button I can hear timer running while I hold button and when I release it stops.
